Layering jewellery is having a major moment, and we’re here for it! This trend is all about mixing, matching, and stacking your favourite pieces to create a look that’s as unique as you are. Whether you’re a maximalist or love a minimalist vibe, layering is the perfect way to elevate any outfit. We talked to our SassBoss and creative queen, Sophie about how she masters the trend.
Start with a Base Piece
Every good layered look needs a star player. Choose one standout piece to anchor your look, like a bold pendant necklace or a chunky chain. This will be the foundation for your layers. I like starting off with the beautiful 'Blake' necklace. I then add a slightly lighter 'Initial Necklace'. Then for a pop of colour I add a Jenna or a Lexi if I'm glamming up.
Mix Lengths
The key to a flawless layered look is varying lengths. Pair a choker like 'Mira' with a mid-length chain and a longer necklace to create depth and dimension. Not only does this avoid tangling (bonus!), but it also gives each piece its moment to shine.
Play with Textures
Mix it up! Combine delicate gold chains with beaded necklaces or pearl-effect pieces for an eclectic vibe. Don’t be afraid to blend metals like gold, silver, and rose gold — breaking the rules is half the fun. I like adding the 'Jenna' for a pop of colour or the 'Lexi' if I want to glam it up.
Add Some Personal Touches
Include meaningful pieces like initials, birthstones, or charms that reflect your personality. Layering is all about telling your story, so make it yours. I'm usually caught wearing my Initial necklace - I just love the detail.
Keep Earrings and Rings in the Game
Why stop at necklaces? Stack rings in mixed metals or styles, and pair them with a set of statement earrings or ear cuffs. The more, the merrier (but stay balanced!).
Dress for the Occasion
Layering can work for every occasion. Go bold for a night out with chunky chains and sparkling accents, or keep it subtle for work with dainty pieces.
